Frequently Asked Questions

| Answer | 1. How old do you have to be?
16 seems to be a good number. If you are younger than that have your parents come and authorize your admittance. Your best behavior is expected regardless of age. Immaturity that causes irritation or annoyance to ourselves or other gamers is not appreciated. We haven't had to remove anyone from an event yet, and you don't want to be the first.
| | 2. Do I have to register?
Yes, you must register at least once so we get your info and you agree to our terms. If you do not register for a particular event then you may not have a seat when you arrive. Space is limited, and seats are assigned based on pre-payment, with remaining seats first come, first serve.
| | 3. How often does Magic hold LAN events?
Approximately whenever we feel like it. We are usually able to hold an event every other month, but this schedule is heavily dependent upon our personal schedules.
| | 4. Why don't you guys play this or that game?
All games are welcome at our events, and we use a variety of games for tournaments to keep the action fresh. If you are really, really good at one game then you probably play it too much and could use the exposure to something new. If you have a game you love but haven't played much because you don't have any friends to use the multiplayer mode with, this is the perfect opportunity to find another gamer willing to join you. Take a look at our Games page for similar information.
| | 5. Do you guys ever play online?
All the time, but nothing organized nor do we run an internet server. We do have dedicated LAN servers though.
| | 6. What is the difference between a general user and a Magic Member?
General user is the lowest level on the heirarchy at Magic. Once a person has attended a few lans and seems to be normal, their status can be elevated to Magic Member, if they so desire. This entitles one to post news and register early for special events.
| | 7. I'm broke. Why are the LANs so expensive?
Magic continues to be entirely non-profit. The cost of event attendance is calculated based on covering event costs, mainly location rental and website hosting fees. Any excess funds in the Magic wallet are put towards improving Magic through equipment and server upgrades, extravagant prizes, or dancing bears.
